Tatiana Marín:

A Literary Voice Shaped by Cultures and Emotions

1. Your name, Tatiana, has a rich history. Do you feel any connection to it in your personal or creative life?

Though certainty eludes such whispers, it is often said that a name carries within it a shadow of fate, a quiet murmur guiding the unseen tides of our becoming. I have long held my own name close, like a lantern in the dusk, yet I have come to see that it is not the syllables we inherit but the soul we shape that defines us. We are forged in the patient fire of our own choices, in the secret architecture of thought and deed, in the luminous weave of private reverie and the vast loom of worldly endeavor. Each step we take, each self we cultivate, outshines the letters that once named us, as the life we craft becomes the truest testament of who we are.

2. You have lived in the United States, France, and the Netherlands. How have these cultural experiences shaped your style and narrative voice?

I have resided in the United States for an extended period, and these intercultural experiences have profoundly shaped my narrative voice. They have facilitated my personal growth by equipping me to navigate cultural challenges and advancing my development as a writer. Throughout my life, I have continually redefined myself within the contexts of diverse cultural environments, a process that has significantly enriched the thematic complexity of my work. This continual evolution has enabled a synthesis of my individual identity with the contemporary literary styles of the countries in which I have lived, culminating in a distinctive and original artistic language.

3. You began writing at the age of 14, inspired by your mother. What role did this family influence play in shaping your passion for literature?

She has been the paramount influence in shaping and nurturing my enduring passion for literature. Assuming this responsibility with unwavering dedication, she meticulously guided my intellectual development, facilitated the rigorous application of critical analysis, and cultivated the refinement of nuanced personal expression through language. Her mentorship has been instrumental in honing both my writing and paraphrasing skills. Beyond her scholarly guidance, the steadfast emotional support of a mother who consistently inspired, encouraged, and sustained my intellectual and professional pursuits constitutes an invaluable and enduring gift, one for which I shall remain eternally grateful.

4. With 11 works published in three languages, you navigate between novels and poetry. How do you choose the most suitable format to express an idea or emotion?

The selection of an appropriate format necessitates a preliminary delineation of the intended objectives and the requisite granularity of detail. For instance, the utilization of text capable of eliciting profound reflection through emotional engagement may facilitate the articulation of complex affective states; the overarching aim is to ensure both coherence and precision in the communication of the intended message.

5. Among your works, Under the Essence of the Heart and Between the Moon and the Sun seem particularly intimate. What personal memories or experiences have nourished these stories?

In UNDER THE ESSENCE OF THE HEART, I transformed my innate sensitivity into a wellspring of creative expression, exploring the profound depths of human emotion. In my latest work, BETWEEN THE MOON AND THE SUN: THE SONG OF THE SIREN, I found a deep resonance with a protagonist who surrenders to the currents of her inner song. Through this narrative, I symbolically evoke a resolute woman who dares to relinquish the confines of imposed limitations, transcending restrictive boundaries to pursue her aspirations with unwavering determination a lyrical testament to the courage and independence of the human spirit.

Tatiana Marín is a writer whose work is deeply influenced by history, culture, and personal introspection. Although many associate her first name with Russia, it actually derives from the Roman name Tatianus, later adopted into Slavic culture.

A naturalized U.S. citizen, Tatiana has built an international literary career, publishing works in three languages while engaging with a wide range of cultural influences. Having lived in the United States, France, and the Netherlands, she has developed a distinctive narrative voice shaped by her experiences across different societies. This continuous exposure to diverse perspectives has allowed her to create a body of work that reflects both her roots and her evolving identity.

Her passion for writing began at the age of 14, inspired by her mother, a literature teacher who nurtured her love for words from an early age. What started as a personal outlet soon became a lifelong commitment. In 2018, she decided to publish the manuscripts she had been carefully preserving since adolescence, marking a turning point in her literary journey.

Today, Tatiana Marín is the author of 11 published works, spanning both novels and poetry. Among her most notable titles are Under the Essence of the Heart, an intimate exploration of emotional depth and vulnerability, and Between the Moon and the Sun, a poetic journey toward enlightenment, resilience, and inner transformation. Through her writing, she weaves together themes of love, heartbreak, and personal growth, offering readers a space for reflection and emotional connection.

For Tatiana, writing is far more than a creative pursuit—it is a discipline and a sanctuary. Through consistent reading and unwavering dedication, she has cultivated a practice that allows her to transform her inner world into art. Currently, she is working on three new projects, including a poetry collection set for release this year, as well as two upcoming novels. Each new work continues to build on her artistic evolution, transforming lived experiences into meaningful and expressive narratives.

6. Poetry is, for you, a space of healing and emotional release. Can you describe a moment when writing allowed you to transform a personal challenge into creative strength?

Though the innumerable moments of existence might be catalogued, measured, and attempted for capture in writing, the endeavor to render them in language remains a profoundly exacting and almost sacred undertaking, for each work is imbued with an irreducible and autonomous vitality—a singular creative force that resists the confines of conventional narrative, defies the grasp of ordinary expression, and manifests a luminous presence that seems to shimmer at the edges of articulation, as though the very act of inscription awakens a life that cannot be contained, fully narrated, or diminished, tracing in its subtle currents the delicate interplay between memory and imagination, thought and feeling, and the inexhaustible mystery of creation itself.

7. You speak of a “fusion of cultures” in your writing. How do you integrate such diverse elements while maintaining coherence in your artistic voice?

In my novels, I achieve this through the careful and nuanced cultivation of character, crafting dialogue that resonates with the authenticity of each individual voice. In my poetry, I develop a singular linguistic style that interweaves intimacy and lyrical expression, integrating personal experience, aspiration, and thoughtful reflection upon the contours of human experience.

8. You are currently working on three new projects. How do you approach creation when juggling between poetry and fiction?

Infused with the serene radiance of inner inspiration, I find within myself a fortitude both steadfast and luminous, guiding each step of my creative journey with clarity and purpose. It is this quiet yet unwavering strength that allows me to delve into the depths of imagination, to nurture the delicate threads of thought, and to shape them into the intricate artistry of my literary works. Whether expressed in the measured cadence of poetry or the unfolding tapestry of narrative prose, my creations emerge as reflections of the soul’s inexhaustible wellspring, a testament to the enduring dialogue between inspiration and craft.

9. Your writing seems deeply lyrical and contemplative. What emotions or experiences do you feel are essential to convey to your readers?

To fashion a language at once singular and intimate, one that inhabits the liminal space between the personal and the transcendent, where the delicate filaments of dreams entwine with the sediment of lived experience and the luminous ache of longing. Here, memory and desire converge, tracing patterns both ineffable and profound, giving voice to the silent currents that pulse beneath the surface of being. In this tongue, expression becomes an architecture of the soul, a vessel in which the ephemeral and the eternal meet, and where the heart’s murmurs are rendered luminous, palpable, and enduring.

I desire that my legacy extend far beyond the fragile confines of time, becoming a luminous thread woven into the vast tapestry of history, culture, and the human soul. May my words endure as more than mere letters on a page, rising instead as living vessels of thought and feeling, carrying with them the quiet revelations, the unspoken sorrows, and the radiant joys that define the human journey. Let each sentence, each story, each verse serve as a beacon for generations yet to come, illuminating the myriad faces of life, whispering truths both intimate and universal, and inviting those who follow to pause, reflect, and wander through the landscapes of emotion and understanding.
